Tellow is used by children, so the short version matters more than the long one: we collect as little as we can, we never sell anything, there are no advertising trackers, and you can delete all of it from inside the app.
What we collect, and why
- Your child's first name, age band, pronoun, comfort toy and interests. Entered by you, used only to write the story. Sent to our server and to our story provider for that purpose and nothing else.
- What tonight is about. The situation you pick, and any detail you type. Used to write the story.
- Your email address, only if you sign in with Apple and choose to share it. Hiding it is fully supported and nothing depends on it.
- Product analytics. Which screens were reached and how long a story took. These carry a random identifier the app makes up for itself — not your Apple ID, not your device ID, not an advertising ID — and our server rejects any property that could identify a person. If you are signed in, these events are associated with your account, so we describe them as linked to you; deleting your account deletes them.
- Purchase state, to know whether a subscription is active. We never receive your payment details; Apple handles payment entirely.
What we never do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no advertising identifier (IDFA).
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of personal information, ever.
- No profiles built about your child for any purpose beyond writing stories.
- No behavioural advertising to anyone, at any age.
Children
Tellow is intended to be set up and operated by a parent or guardian. A year-of-birth check gates account setup, purchases and data deletion, and that check is verified on our servers rather than on the device.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Everything about a child is entered by the adult holding the phone. We comply with COPPA (US), the UK Age Appropriate Design Code and GDPR-K (EU/UK), and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (India), and we design to whichever of these is strictest.
Where it goes
Stories are generated by Anthropic and narrated by ElevenLabs. Both are bound by agreements that prohibit training on your data and require zero retention beyond what is needed to return the result. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
How long we keep it
Your child's profile and saved stories live on your device and stay until you delete them. Account records and analytics are deleted immediately when you use Delete account & data. Narration audio is cached, addressed only by a hash of the story text, and contains no identifiers.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time. Deletion is available in the app — Settings → Delete account & data — and takes effect immediately. For anything else, write to hello@saarthios.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
